Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on minimum standards for the qualification and status of third country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection and the content of the protection grantedÂ
Abstract
This proposal aims to address the deficiencies identified during the first-phase of the asylum
legislation and to ensure higher and more harmonised standards of protection, thus
progressing towards a common asylum procedure and a uniform status, as set out in the
Tampere conclusions and reiterated in the Hague programme.
