Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL establishing a European Securities and Markets Authority  

Abstract

The aim of this proposal is to create a European Securities and Markets Authority as part of a new European System of Financial Supervisors, consisting of a network of European and national supervisory authorities. In the longer term, the the aim of the ESMA is to enhance coordination of supervision of the EU securities sector and contribute to developing a European dimension of financial supervision to complete the EU single market for financial services.
