newsTaking care of the caregivers: ensuring psychosocial wellbeing for health and social care workers

Over one in ten workers in the EU is employed in the health and social care sector, which covers occupations like medical and residential care as well as social work. Psychosocial risks are particularly common in the sector, including high workloads, third-party violence, irregular working hours and high emotional job demands. These can impact both workers' mental and physical health.

EU-OSHA’s latest discussion paper Psychosocial risks in the health and social care sector presents an overview of psychosocial risks in the sector and their prevalence and discusses effective interventions to prevent, reduce and manage psychosocial risks in health and social care workplaces.
